Elite-Multi Computer Program:
February Auto-Multi Bonanza
We have had a few queries as to the wisdom of
leaving out short priced horses from the win box of the multis.
I
know it goes against "normal" punting thinking that you must
work with the favourite to build multi bets but given that
nearly all "normal"
punters lose, why is it difficult to take
the opposite approach? Less than 30% of favourites win and if
they do the payout will always be unders.
A few examples of Auto Multis at Sandown
and Caulfield in the past week will
demonstrate the value of leaving the hot-pots out.
At Sandown last Wednesday in race 2, Number 3 Depasse was
a warm $2.50 favourite which was rejected by Elite-Multi
bettors.
We had our cut off set at $3.00 which meant that we
did not want it to win. The Auto Multi built our bets around the
numbers 4-5-6.
First pick, Number 4, Hi Belle won at $5.80 and
set up a $62.70 Exacta, $644.50 Tri and $5,535 First 4.
In race 5, Pinatas (Number 2) was a $2.70 favourite and
was duly rejected by the program. The numbers suggested to win
by the Auto-Multi were 1-4-5.
Top Pick, Abitofado won @ $8.80 and set up the
$105 exacta, $629 Trifecta. We missed that first four by
restricting the fourth place to just 9 runners
(we needed
10).
Getting the idea? In race 6 Confidence Reef was the Top Pick
by the Auto-Multi. It also won and paid $5.40 setting up yet
another big collect for
Elite Multi punters.
In fact, over the two meetings there
were 12 possible races to operate the Auto-Multi program. It
collected on SEVEN exactas averaging $57, SEVEN
trifectas
averaging $406 and SIX first fours averaging a whopping $3,830
each!
This is sensational because the program had to nominate these
winners with just three horses selected to win the race:
